This includes all product testing, field testing, and data tracking.
This team member must have a drive for continuous improvement in all processes, logical problem-solving skills, and the desire to lead by example.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily laboratory analyses capturing data points necessary to track the health of fermentation.
Daily analyses include, but not limited to:
o Daily Brix, pH, TA, temperature, yeast cell counts and viability scores, microbial plating, and pectin analysis.
- Make necessary additions throughout fermentation to ensure we are achieving a healthy and efficient fermentation.
- Assist/lead with data collection, data entry and the preparation of finished batch and daily fermentation reports - Perform laboratory analyses to effectively monitor our yeast prop's health and assist with the inoculation of our juice.
- Be responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of all laboratory equipment/machines, ensuring all are properly calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Assist a small team tasked with various research objectives for continuous improvement and product development.
- Ensure that all team members are upholding Blake's promise of producing products of exceptional quality.
- Perform checks on all packaging lines throughout the day to ensure equipment and product is being held up to industry standards.
Education, Skills & Knowledge:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred Preference of 1-2 years of experience working in a lab Well-developed tasting skills In-depth understanding of major aspects of cidermaking, laboratory procedures, bottling and production workflow Computer proficient in Excel and Word Good organizational, planning, and presentation skills Clear commitment to high quality and attention to details Able to work independently with minimum supervision Must have the ability to be on your feet for an entire shift.
